Flat horses to follow

🐎 My first flat horse to follow is Curious Rover, trained by Katie Scott for URSA racing. Curious Rover is a seriously talented now 3 year old gelding who is not given the attention he deserves. On his debut over 7 furlongs, he finished 1 length third to the respectable 8/13 favourite in Consoling. He then dropped down in trip to 6 furlongs on his second start at Ayr, during which he stayed on strongly to be beaten only a neck by Showhound, despite being hampered inside the final furlong. Dropping in trip again to 5 furlongs on his next start at Catterick, Curious Rover deservedly won the race by 1 3/4 lengths to Nasneen in second. Hamilton was next for this admirable 2 year old, in which he was unlucky to finish 3/4 lengths second to Almarada Pdince. Almarada Prince then won next time out, consolidating Curious Rover’s good form. He then won again at Haydock by 3 lengths, beating the respectable likes of Hedge Fund, Say Hello, and Due For Luck into second, third, and fourth place. C...

Horses to follow part 2

🐎My next horse to follow is Crystal Moon, trained by Alan King for Mrs June Watts. Crystal Moon made a successful racecourse debut in a National Hunt Flat race when beaten only a short head by Nigel Twiston Davies’ Trevada. He showed determination and strength throughout, pulling away from the rest of the group by 7 lengths. Failing to add to this initial promise, Crystal Moon had wind surgery in early 2022, before coming third in a hurdle race at Stratford in a close finish. Stepping down in trip from 2 mile 6 to 2 mile 4 and ready for his chasing debut, Ludlow was next for Crystal Moon. He again ran with much credibility when only beaten 3/4 of a length into second. Crystal Moon then rightfully stepped up in trip to 2 mile 7, when winning his race at Huntington. He jumped and travelled strongly throughout his next race at Doncaster but weakened after the third last and finished third, with the very progressive Gaboriot (see my post about him) 21 lengths ahead of him. He then...

Horses to follow

🐎My first horse to follow is a horse who has stolen my heart, trained by Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero in Malpas, Cheshire, Gaboriot takes the number one spot. Owned by Lord Daresbury, he was a useful hurdler in France for Francois Nicolle before being brought over to England for Haydock Park Racing. We often see in French racehorses that they usually need a season to adjust to the differences in training and races in England before showing their true talent. However, Gaboriot showed his potential when coming third at Hereford on his British debut under a steady ride from George Cowley, but still lacking confidence, he failed to follow this form up on his next run when hampered a few times by older and more experienced horses. Still settling into his new surroundings, he showed his stamina and newly found determination when finishing second to Time Leader, who came fifth in the Aintree Foxhunters. He was well looked after under Alice Stevens, and kept on challenging the le...
